The Rugby Reboot

A classic men’s striped rugby shirt, reworked into a more flattering, easy-to-wear cropped layer. Because apparently the original plan for traditional rugby shirts was “make it long enough to fight with everyone’s hips.” Charming. Functional. Not always flattering.

This version keeps the bold navy-and-white stripes, crisp collar, button placket, and sporty rugby feel, but the length has been cropped to hit just above the hips. A soft sweatshirt ribbing was added at the bottom, giving it a more finished shape while keeping the fit casual and comfortable.

Traditional men’s rugby shirts tend to run long and straight, which can feel bulky on women, especially through the hip area. By shortening the body and adding ribbing at the hem, this piece creates a cleaner silhouette without losing that relaxed borrowed-from-the-boys charm.

Sporty, preppy, and just a little cheeky, this one is perfect with jeans, wide-leg pants, or layered over a tank when you want classic rugby energy without looking like you borrowed someone’s gym-class uniform from 1997.
